The government has directed additional funding to schools called the Pupil Premium Grant. The aim of this money is for schools to ensure equal opportunities and learning outcomes for all children. Children receive the additional funding for a range of reasons such as qualifying for free school meals or for being children of parents serving in the armed forces. The funding is put into the school budget and they must plan for the use of the funding and analyse the impact of it each year. The government also gives school a grant each year to develop sport, PE, physical activity and the welfare of children within the school. This is spent in a range of ways by the school and is carefully planned and evaluated each year.
