The school's S.E.N. co-ordinator is Jennie Wilson.
Provision for Children with Learning Difficulties
Careful teacher observation and our monitoring system enables us to detect, at an early stage, the few children who may require additional support in their learning. In the majority of cases, alternative materials and Individual Education Plans provide effective support to children within their class bases. Staff have considerable experience of providing a differentiated curriculum and plan effective interventions to boost learning where needed.
At times the school will seek additional advice about how best to support the needs of individual children. This is always done in close consultation with parents and we will aim to keep you informed whenever provision for your child alters in any way.
The curriculum and assessment systems are monitored by:
● Teacher assessment
● National curriculum criteria
● Records of Achievement
● Observation
● SATS
Every child's programme is monitored according to the government's regulations. Parents are consulted and involved in the following ways:
● When initial concern is noted
● Invited to reviews
● Consulted at each stage of assessment
● The school's curriculum objectives for children with special needs are:
● Entitlement and Access to the National Curriculum should inform all planning.
● Tasks and activities should be differentiated to meet the needs of all children.
● We are committed to a multi disciplinary approach to meeting S.E.N., including the involvement of all support and child health services.
● We should avoid labelling any child.
● We should be working towards improving self image and positive attitudes for all children.
● We should be aiming for integration with or without support into as many of the activities of the school as possible.
● We should aim to help all children reach their true potential.
